Kauvery Hospital-TNSTC Veterans Tennis Tournament 2026 Draws 125 Players as Champions Crowned Across Seven Age Categories

The VIth Leg of the Kauvery Hospital-TNSTC Veterans Tennis Tournament 2026 concluded in Madurai with around 125 players from seven states competing across seven age categories. Champions were crowned in Singles and Doubles events, Rs. 2 lakh in prize money was distributed, and the event showcased India's leading veteran tennis talent while ensuring comprehensive medical support.

The VIth Leg of the Kauvery Hospital-Tamil Nadu Senior Tennis Club (TNSTC) Veterans Tennis Tournament 2026 concluded successfully at the Madurai Union Club after three days of competitive action from June 26 to June 28, bringing together around 125 veteran players from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan.

The tournament featured Singles and Doubles competitions across seven age categories, including 40+, 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+, 70+, and 75+, highlighting the growing popularity of veteran tennis in India. A total prize money of Rs. 2 lakh was distributed among the winners, runners-up, and semi-finalists across all categories. The trophies and prize money were presented by TNSTC Chairman Mr. Jayaraman and Secretary Mr. N. Narayanasamy.

The championship witnessed the participation of several distinguished veteran players who have represented India at the World Veterans Tennis Championships. They included Sanjay Kumar of Kerala in the 60+ category, Suresh Murthati of Telangana and Tulasiram of Karnataka in the 70+ category, and Venkatachalam Swaminathan of Tamil Nadu in the 75+ category. Sanjay Kumar and Venkatachalam Swaminathan have both served as captains of the Indian team at the World Veterans Tennis Championships. One of the tournament's notable highlights was the participation of two octogenarian players, Mr. R. Nagarajan and Mr. Shivamony Moorthy.

In the Singles events, Srikanth claimed the 40+ title, while Ramesh S won the 50+ category. Srinivas Reddy emerged victorious in the 55+ category, Senthil Kumar secured the 60+ title, V. Shankar won the 65+ category, Tulasiram captured the 70+ championship, and Venkatachalam Swaminathan lifted the 75+ title.

The Doubles competitions also produced impressive performances. Sathish Babu and M. Ramu won the 40+ category, while Ramesh S and Sathish Babu secured the 50+ title. Dinesh Thampi and Srinivas Reddy emerged victorious in the 55+ category, Sivakumar and Senthil Kumar claimed the 60+ championship, Alapati Suresh and V. Shankar won the 65+ category, Tulasiram and Suresh Murthati triumphed in the 70+ category, and Venkatachalam Swaminathan and Veeramani K captured the 75+ doubles title.

TNSTC, one of South India's most active veteran tennis organisations, currently has around 550 veteran members. The club organises four non-ranking tournaments every year in Madurai, Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli, and Chennai, providing veteran tennis players with regular opportunities for competitive participation and sporting camaraderie.

Kauvery Hospital played a significant role in ensuring the health and safety of all participants by deploying a dedicated medical team supported by a fully equipped ambulance throughout the tournament, ensuring immediate medical assistance and first-aid support whenever required.

Following the successful conclusion of the Madurai event, the next leg of the Tamil Nadu Senior Tennis Club Veterans Tennis Tournament will be held in Tiruchirappalli in September 2026, continuing the club's efforts to promote competitive veteran tennis across the region.
